Weekly Photo Challenge: Changing Seasons

I know it should be more winter(ish) in our neck of the woods, but it hasn’t been…

Yet.

We finally hit the peak of our Fall season with the gorgeous harvest colors, and tons of falling leaves. Luckily, I have a great park nearby to witness this season in all its glory. I grab my puppy Fred and off with go with my camera strapped to my back.

I think of so many things when I see the gentle caress of our sublime autumn.

I think of the completeness of it.

Fall ends. Winter begins.

I think of the magic. A host of brilliant colors, with (mostly) mild temperatures, and cool breezes.

I celebrate the changing season with a most grateful heart.

Stunned by the vibrant year-end filled with sorrow, grace, and tremendous victories.

A beautiful reflection of hushed joy.

Because, really? What can you do, but be in awe of another year’s radical termination?

This is a beloved time. I enjoy it in every way possible.

  15. I would love to walk down that trail and chatter with that squirrel – or those squirrels. I’d like to take my big furry girls along though, so the squirrels would probably hide.

    Everyone of these photos ROCK! But being a huge squirrel lover, the ones of the squirrels made my heart smile.

    You’re so right, my friend. I sometimes get annoyed at how fall and winter have almost become non-existent because those are my two favorite seasons. The weather has changed so drastically these past 5 years. Today it was close to 75 degrees and very humid. Tomorrow it goes back to freezing temps.

    Oh well…it is what it is.

    1. Awe, thank-you! Merry Christmas to you too! My sister lives in Friendswood so I do know what you mean. Not a lot of chilly weather in Houston. But I ADORE pines. We have a few on our street that are just lovely year round.

  21. Your writing is beautiful, so relateable. I sense a kindred spirit here because this reminds me of my own thoughts during this time of year when I’m taking the wee pup out for runs. The photos are just stunning, gorgeous colors and so vibrant. I used to associate winter with hibernation and deadened nature but it’s not the case at all and you’ve perfectly captured the brilliance and life of this season!

    1. I think we are kindred spirits Audrey! My Dad loved Fall and I was always a summer girl. As I have grown older, I realize how precious the Fall is. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last near long enough here.

  22. The photos are awesome. And so is the writing. Yes, the changing of the seasons is pure magic and you were able to captured the last glimpses of the autumn in these pictures. I see a lot of people have taken a liking of the squirrels, which are cute, but my favourite picture is the one you call Fall Flight.

  25. SQUIRRELS! I love them so. It’s easy to catch good images of them as they are adorable. No fair, you captured great nature pics then we don’t get to see how you fall!!!??? Tsk, tsk, tsk.
