It’s the great flash freeze of December 2013.
And when this happens?
This happens!
And even though, I work from home and don’t get any “ice” days. I do get to enjoy my kids and pets on their “ice”. It is amazing what one can accomplish during a lunch hour.
These two cuties never fail to amuse.
Cable lines, and no, our cable, nor electricity went out.
You can’t have an ice day without our furry friends. Clothed in love, and maybe embarrassed a bit, but hey, that’s okay. They were compensated for their troubles with lots of snuggles and treats.
Anna in her Santa hat. You think she is cute now; you should see her in her elf suit.
Salem in her ugly sweater.
Nothing says, “Texas”, more than sliding down the yard and driveway on a cardboard box top. Sleds? We don’t need no stinking sleds!
The girls had so much fun.
Hours upon hours of playing outside.
And that box top? Well, I found its remnants on the floor of the garage. It wasn’t pretty. May it rest in peace.
The flash freeze left color in full bloom.
And happy children.
This slick stuff has lasted four days and the store shelves are empty. But fear not, I bring tidings of good news….the icicles are finally starting to melt.
I guess we will stay on the map after all and we should be open soon, ya’ll.
Great photos Angelia! I read about the ice spreading across the country and how hard it pounded Texas. Sorry you have to deal with that, great that your power and cable stayed up though. It’s been very chilly here, is 30 right now but bright and sunny as (almost) always.

Wow that’s right you folks really got hammered with the snow and ice storm and the cold.
We were lucky, our little corner of the southeast: SC, GA, and FL had unseasonably warm temps over the weekend. Hit close to 80 on Friday.
Terrific scenes you captured here Angelia!

Fabulous photographs, Angelia. And I mean….faaaaaaaabulous! The ones of the icicles are amazing!
I can’t get over how much cold and snow you guys have gotten. I remember one year while I was still living in Orlando, Florida and it actually SNOWED. In the 20 years I lived there, I had never seen it snow, so it was pretty shocking. However, it was kinda nice to get a break from the traditional Florida heat.
Btw, I love your watermark on your photos. Very nice!
Stay warm and have a super week, my friend!

P.S. We got a lot of snow here yesterday. Yipeeeeee!

Yay! I can’t wait to see your photos!!! I worked all day yesterday helping Emergency Services get all the stranded folks flights rebooked. SO. MUCH. WEATHER. Everywhere. I did see the snow coming down when I passed the T.V and my husband was watching the Eagles game. 🙂 So fun!

Can’t ya’ll just warm up in that Alamo thing ? I heard it was quite a “hots pot” a number of years ago.

Hi Carl!!!
Ha! I think the Alamo is still fine. It has to be much warmer there than it is here. 🙂

We have to enjoy it when we get it, but we really don’t like it to stay around so long. The girls asked yesterday when it was gonna melt. Made me, LOL.

Great shots of fun on a snow day. Our area closes with the least bit of snow, too. It doesn’t usually last long here, either.

Thanks! This stuff has hung around….way longer than anyone wants it. I think we have had our coldest winter to date.

And our area doesn’t get “winter”. I mean we have 80-degree winter days. Real winter days that are actually cold like winter are crippling. Lol.

She is the size of boy lab, but she is a girl. A big girl. She is eleven years old and still a good sport. And thank-you! I had someone design it and I just adore it! I always wanted a watermark that was as pretty as the photo. 🙂
