And truly the most abundant in our backyard.
As annoying as this weed is, I do find it most unusual. A weed or a flower? A seed or a shower of them? A part of child-hood, and a part of Spring. Maybe even a thriving example of the most copious life cycle.
Whether they are annoying or beautiful, I do not know.
And that is why I deem them – The Most Interesting Weed in the World.
It rained today….

And the beautiful raindrops gave me something outstanding to photograph.
Once upon a time, a land gave birth to a tree, a tree gave birth to a forest. A forest gave birth to a park. And the park became a National Monument that welcomes many visitors near and far for over 100 years.
I got to visit this amazing place. I touched these majestic giants. I breathed the same air as these century old woods. I tried to imagine living on this land one hundred and fifty million years ago amongst more than two million acres of coastal redwood and sequoia trees. Can you imagine?
Now, not so many are left. But you can be sure, they are doing all the can to preserve these living reminders of what endurance is all about.
They endured the invasion of people. They endured the threat of earthquakes and fires. They endured the booming logging industry and the many that cut their ancestors down.
And now, they endure to bring splendor to those small enough to look upon their greatness.

As you can see from my earlier post, we are happily rocking the spring here in North Central Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth area). And although we have had a few unusually cold nights, all in all, we are having a fabulous spring. Much cooler and longer than any previous years. I guess the season is taking its time to move on (just like stubborn winter!).
But you know? I love this time of year. Not quite as much as I love Fall, but almost.
One of the first blooms to make their appearance in the spring are the wild clover. They pop up in the yard just before the first mow of the new season. I blogged about them in Spring of 2011 (also a weekly photo challenge) right in this post here. See? I told you I loved them and so does my sweet pup.
Unfortunately, we have mowed them down and weeded them out (in the stark tradition of having a unified green fairway lawn). I don’t know why I can’t talk my husband into having a wildflower yard. Wouldn’t that be spectacular? A nature photographer’s dream? I can see birds and butterflies flitting about. Lots of variety and color. He wouldn’t even have to mow…
Hmmmm, maybe next year…

Aren’t they beautiful? I love how they kick off spring with such pop and flair.
