The Last Day of the Year

We have a birthday in da house!
Hey, hey, hey! We have a birthday in da’ house!

Today is my dear, sweet husband’s special day. Did you hear that?

What? You thought it was New Year’s Eve?

Heavens no! All the celebrating is for Jason’s birthday! Isn’t that cool?

My now 38yr old husband with the smallest fur baby.

I don’t blame all the celebrators. I’d celebrate too (even if it wasn’t his birthday..ha).

He is probably the easiest man I have ever met. He doesn’t get emotional. Doesn’t complain (much…). Loves his mother. Loves his girls (including the fur pets). He puts up with me. HA!

He cooks, cleans, and takes care of the bills. Most of the time, he lets me sleep in and gets up to feed the dogs in the morning.

And I am not sure how, but he has the most amazing patience with an all-girl (and one boy dog) household.

He is super smart (far smarter than I could ever comprehend). I couldn’t even spell comprehend. Spell check just corrected me. Thanks spellcheck. My point is…..I bet Jason could spell it without being checked. Heh.

A Christian man raised in the Methodist Church. He is more reverent, than Bible banging. He is humble, thoughtful, and does not push blame on anyone, for anything. He accepts fully any failings completely on his own. But of course, I don’t think he fails.

I think he teaches us a lot about what it is to be a man of his word. Loyal, loving, and pure of heart.

Aren’t you glad you are celebrating for him today?

The last day of the year, we sing Happy Birthday to this incredible man, we dearly love.

Molly hung this banner early in the morning before he woke up. She found the materials: tape, construction paper, scissors, and notebook paper. She stood on a chair to hang it above the doorway to the kitchen. A very perfect place.

She wrote name tags on all the chairs, and his chair says, “Birthday Boy!” She is so funny….I wonder where she gets her thoughtfulness from? Hmmmmm…

Since the eight-year old decorated the house and had all the name tags in place, we prepare to party.

No, I didn’t make these. And I promise you, he thanks me for that…

Sydney photo bombs my take of her boyfriend, Brandon, playing drums.

The Birthday boy is cooking up some of his famous chicken wings between sets, and we are enjoying his special day.

The last day of the year and the first day of his thirty-eighth year.

I decided today was a day of grace, love, and reflection for this wonderful man.

We embrace, and honor him always.

Happy Birthday Jason!

iHeartFaces: Enjoying Life

I took my oldest DSLR with my 35mm lens to the river. That is as adventurous as I get with my camera equipment and water. But I LOVED this shot of my oldest step-daughter.

The iheartfaces challenge is enjoying life and just from the look on her face…..she most certainly is!

Wishing you all a jump into the sweet life with a smile as big as that.

Happy Friday!

Caption Contest Winner!

I am so glad Jason was the judge of the Caption Contest and not me. I was rolling on the floor from some of these. I loved them ALL! He had a real hard time choosing, but in the end, went with……

Team Edward V. Team Jacob:Who Will Bella Choose? - by Charisa

Congratulations Charisa who shares the same birthday as me, and I, too, used a vampire reference! Indeed, we are cosmic twins!

Jason picked two runner’s up (because we are nice like that):

“You put how much money on our Pet Smart card?!”

“But honey, I bought this nice collar for you”

Submitted by Kimberly from All work and no Play makes Mommy go something, something blog.

And if you can’t tell from the blog name, she is a hoot.

And…..

Oh ****!

Submitted by Mandy from Mandyallen.com Where life begins blog.

When I see Anna’s face, it perfectly depicts this phrase. *By the way no dogs were harmed in the making of this caption contest, just sayin’.*

I decided to post a few more favorites as well.

Sydney’s pick-

Geez…no need to bare all that calcium. All I was saying is that the collar would look a lot better down HERE a bit…

Submitted by the very witty Jessica from Booshy blog.

We both get tickled when we read that since the little paw is pulling the collar down. Ha. Booshy was my very first blog friend commenter, for reals.

Angelia’s pick-

Dude, you need to back that mouth up. The breath alone is killer.

From my dear funny blog friend Foxy who writes The Fox Den blog.

I’ve been a fan from day one of finding her. She is pregnant with her FIRST baby. I get to meet her in March to take maternity photographs and I….can’t…..wait! Squeeee!!

This was very fun. You are all crazy wonderful for participating and giving us so much joy and laughter – which we always LOVE. I hope you enjoyed as well. If ever I get another great caption photo, we will definitely do it again (odds are high since I am taking photos EVERY day for 365 project).

Thank-you, each and every one. Enjoy the weekend!

The Cross Dressing Elvis makes a Move

Oh, he wasn’t always a cross dresser. Once, he lived a normal life in a cellophane package on the grounds of Graceland. Until one day, purchased and bagged, he ended up here – Magnet Fridge City. Land of the collectible seductive metal, instead of gracing Graceland, he graced the icebox.

It’s not really his fault. Wardrobe on the box is limited. Just ask his friend, Blue Suede M&M.

“That’s Alright”

When Elvis met Marilyn, he not only stole her heart, he stole her pants.

And can you blame the guy? She had a rockin’ attire. Wasn’t it obvious she came from Vegas the city of glitz? Always cool. Dressed in her finest gown. Crooning and laughing her throaty laugh. She didn’t mind.

They all wanted to be like her. Even the dog lived the sweet life.

“Hound Dog”

Their biggest fear? To be left behind. Forgotten. Unused. Undressed.
What if no one changed their bra, their pants, their shoes, their crown? What if they ended up [gasp!] naked?
Or worse , on the side of a filing cabinet. It wasn’t an easy life, but it was their life. Being together – the most important thing.

But all good things must come to an end. The day came when their clothes were scraped off. One by one, from head to toe, they peeled forward. Handled delicately they were placed unattached in a cardboard box. Clothes tossed in a pile like dirty laundry.

“All shook up”

The horror! They were moving. Where would they end up? Who would be in what dress? The uncertainty struck fear deep in their magnet core.

As the box lid slides to a close. Marilyn beams her bedroom eyes, and Elvis grins his star-lit smile. Someday soon, they will rise again to great glory of cold food storage, and great inter-changeable fashion.

Coming soon to a fridge near you (uh-Jason).

” ‘Til we meet you again, may God bless you. Adios.”
Elvis-Said in 1977 at the end of a concert during his last tour.

**No magnets were harmed in the making of this post.**
