The Last Day of the Year

We have a birthday in da house!
Hey, hey, hey! We have a birthday in da’ house!

Today is my dear, sweet husband’s special day. Did you hear that?

What? You thought it was New Year’s Eve?

Heavens no! All the celebrating is for Jason’s birthday! Isn’t that cool?

My now 38yr old husband with the smallest fur baby.

I don’t blame all the celebrators. I’d celebrate too (even if it wasn’t his birthday..ha).

He is probably the easiest man I have ever met. He doesn’t get emotional. Doesn’t complain (much…). Loves his mother. Loves his girls (including the fur pets). He puts up with me. HA!

He cooks, cleans, and takes care of the bills. Most of the time, he lets me sleep in and gets up to feed the dogs in the morning.

And I am not sure how, but he has the most amazing patience with an all-girl (and one boy dog) household.

He is super smart (far smarter than I could ever comprehend). I couldn’t even spell comprehend. Spell check just corrected me. Thanks spellcheck. My point is…..I bet Jason could spell it without being checked. Heh.

A Christian man raised in the Methodist Church. He is more reverent, than Bible banging. He is humble, thoughtful, and does not push blame on anyone, for anything. He accepts fully any failings completely on his own. But of course, I don’t think he fails.

I think he teaches us a lot about what it is to be a man of his word. Loyal, loving, and pure of heart.

Aren’t you glad you are celebrating for him today?

The last day of the year, we sing Happy Birthday to this incredible man, we dearly love.

Molly hung this banner early in the morning before he woke up. She found the materials: tape, construction paper, scissors, and notebook paper. She stood on a chair to hang it above the doorway to the kitchen. A very perfect place.

She wrote name tags on all the chairs, and his chair says, “Birthday Boy!” She is so funny….I wonder where she gets her thoughtfulness from? Hmmmmm…

Since the eight-year old decorated the house and had all the name tags in place, we prepare to party.

No, I didn’t make these. And I promise you, he thanks me for that…

Sydney photo bombs my take of her boyfriend, Brandon, playing drums.

The Birthday boy is cooking up some of his famous chicken wings between sets, and we are enjoying his special day.

The last day of the year and the first day of his thirty-eighth year.

I decided today was a day of grace, love, and reflection for this wonderful man.

We embrace, and honor him always.

Happy Birthday Jason!

And fun.

A most deserving man.

On his 36th birthday.

I improvised on the candles.

I gave him a card that said…You may be the one making a birthday wish today, but I’m the one with the wish come true, and I thank God for the wonderful life I have with you. (Hallmark)

I am so blessed to be in your life.

You are definitely the yin to my yang.

Happy Birthday with love!

And hey…what do you know? Happy New Year’s Eve…..I think the world is celebrating with me (and you).

Here’s to many more years of celebrating – birthday and New Year Eves – together, with love, laughter, and family!

Happy New Year to everyone. Thank-you for reading my blog. It means so much to me to share my life with you.

May all your wishes come true as you welcome in a New Year.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!

Chorus.-For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

I partied with Chuck E!

We had a great time.

Until he followed me home.

Imagine my surprise, while looking for a mysterious lost bag from Michael’s in the laundry room. Intently foraging a corner of linens and giveaway clothes. I lifted up a stack of folded clothes to look under it – out FLEW a gray furry body. Super man style. He long jumped half the room landed on two feet skittering sideways as he rounded the corner of the dryer before I could even start to think about screaming. It wasn’t really a scream, more of a – oh, oh, oh – “Ewww!!”

The terminator; aka, Jason went in said room and shut the door. Chuck E’s days were numbered. I swear if only I had a picture of his face. It truly was the one with the music. Dun, dun, dundun. Dun, dun, dun, dundun. After much banging around, where I fretted over Jason’s safety (heh). He came out empty-handed. Chuck E was too sly. It wasn’t his first party.

But Operation Mouse Trap began, as we found “evidence” here and there of little Chuck E Jr’s. Their drug of choice? Calcium Chocolate chews. I kid you not. We found four half eaten calcium chews. Those are some bootylicious rodents.

My Sunday was spent unpacking the boxes in the kitchen, you know? The ones with the irresistible calcium chews. We did set traps. We cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. After cleaning all day, I sit down in the recliner and guess what show comes on? Hoarders. I had not seen that show before. I did not miss the irony (I swear we are NOT like that – not even close).

And just because I don’t want to post about cute furry friends without including my favorite non-pests.

My big girl Salem turned eight years old on Friday.

Happy Birthday gorgeous! Next time, don’t invite Chuck E, mkay?

And just because she is so dang cute! I can’t resist a pet and snuggle every time I see her wittle face. Just wook at it. Lol.

A puppy named Brownie.

Coming soon…. a new CAT! Haha.

Happy Monday!
