The Sweet Nothings of February

Love is in the air!

It’s February. The month cupids points his little arrow and stabs you in the heart. And cupid got me, oh yes he did! His little arrow pierced me right in the sweet tooth! And there’s goes the meal plan. Or, at least, a few extra “free days”.

These images are all part of my Project 52 on Flickr. I take part in two groups. One is the Alphabet challenge and the other is the 50mm lens one. I had a brilliant thought that if I did TWO projects, then quite possibly, I would finish one. I, also, like the flexibility to use other lenses on the Alphabet one. As well as a different theme. But I must say, I really enjoy the nifty fifty lens, too. This is somewhat of a surprise to me, because I RARELY used it to take photos before this project.

This week, I picked up many February/Valentine’s Day theme(y) stuff. SWEETS. CANDY. SHINY THINGS. HEARTS. Oh for the love all things HEART. I ♥ you. XOXOXO.

These yummy cuppa cakes made for great photos, in which, I was REWARDED heavenly for doing such a good job posing them, and prepping them. Oh, yippee ki-yay! Soooo tasty.

And Valentine’s Day would not be complete without kisses. Lots of kisses!

They are calling out to me. To love them completely. To kiss them with my taste buds (that might be me, not them). And I do! I certainly do. No Kiss was left behind!

Lastly, I got a wine glass. For those more difficult (pointing at you SNOW STORMS OF THE CENTURY) work days.

And for project purposes, I filled this one with hearts of the pure kind.

I found the font used on Bach’s conversation hearts a little different, shall we say? I’m used to a more blocky type face and this computer font threw me off a bit. I guess it takes some getting used to. Conversation hearts have to move into the future sometime, right?

So there you have it. All the hot stuff I could muster and more.

I hope your Valentine heart is just as full of every sweet nothing my camera could offer. And I hope your teeth don’t hurt as much as mine do.

Happy month of February!

A Nifty Project in 2015

For a few years now I have participated in a yearly photo project. Participate being the key word.

Angelia

In the first year, I tried to tackle the monstrous 365 Project. In this one you take a photograph and post it…

Every! Single! Day!

I think I made it to Day 56. And believe me, that was a stretch.

Day 11- First day of Digital Photography Class

The next year, I joined a Project 52 group. Because, surly, one photo a week is a heck of lot easier than three-hundred and sixty-five.

And it was.

A pup named Brownie

But still…

As great as I started out.
Celebration - Week 1 of Project 52

Crafting and posting my shots.

Project 52: Week 45 - Motion

I just couldn’t seem to make it to the end.

Project 52: Week 49 - Red

Year after year.

Project 52: Week 7 - Love (2) Self- Portrait Project 52 - 6/52 - Somebody you love

This year was best run yet! I’d like to believe the only reason it failed was due to the moderator of the group up and disappearing.

Poof.

It kinda takes the wind out of your sails when the project (and most of the participants) come to a screeching halt on Week 47 (or so).

And yes, I could have kept going. I could have made myself journey on.

Project 52: Week 36 - Big

But I didn’t.

I quit too.

And I failed, yet again.

Failure doesn’t mean you are a failure… it just means you haven’t succeeded yet. ~Robert Schuller

Or maybe?

I just didn’t succeed (yet!).

Project 52: Week 37 - Nostalgia

But here comes a NEW YEAR. A year of great promise. A year of new! Hello 2015! I have NO PLANS to quit you. And this year, I will FINISH a Project 52. I joined a new group where I will post a photo on Flickr every week (based on the theme created by administrators). I happen to know these gals. I know their creativity. I KNOW their dedication. There is no doubt in mind about this project and the completion thereof.

SO!

Care to join me?

Shall we travel this path together?

Project 52: Week 15 - In a Row

Who knows what we will find?

I promise it will be worth the adventure.

Project 52: Week 3 - A Favorite Toy

Here is all you need to know (and links!) The what, the where, and the when.

The what. A Project 52. It requires you take a new photo every week and post it on
Flickr. This one is using a 50mm lens.

The when. It starts the very first week of the year (52 weeks- get it?). You will take a photo and post to the Project 52 group. There are themes of the week waiting for your creation. At the end of the week, a few favorites are chosen. They will be featured on this blog.

I would love to see you there. And if you don’t want to take part, you can follow me as I post my weekly images here.

All the images I have used in this post are from earlier photography projects.

I promise a lot of fun, a lot of great images, and a little push in stretching your photographic creativity.

Freddy Goes For a Ride

Have you met Fred?

He started out as my mom’s dog – my favorite of mom’s twenty dogs. My Oklahoma visits to see them made my trips. Then, mom went into assisted living and could only bring one dog. She picked her favorite little chihuahua and the rest of the dogs went to new homes. Luckily, Fred came to mine. Probably, because I BEGGED my husband with every fiber of my being. It being a super hard sell as we already had a THREE dog rule and only added a third because I convinced him dog number three is a Cat (and since dog three doesn’t bark, it wasn’t a complete fib). But Fred, oh dear little Freddy, he makes four. Four throws off our favorite number – three. And three is such a special number to us for many, many reasons – three tens (our wedding day), three girls (our kids), and our three dogs.

Now, it is four. Funny how different a number sounds. Three sounds like weeeee! But four is so much sterner and harder on the tongue.

But guess what? Averey makes FOUR in girls. So there number three, take that.

The next four is our anniversary date in 2014 – it’s NUMBER FOUR. Four in FOURteen. I like that.

And what I am saying is four is not a bad number. Not a bad number at all. Because number four brought a very unexpected bundle of precious fur to us. Fred changed our number. He changed our lives. Him, with his joie de vivre doggy ways.

I love him more than I should. I favor him, a little, and I adore him – a lot. He gets me. He gets life. He just rolls with it. He is the coolest, happiest little fella I have ever met.

And Fred? He made a big change coming to our house too. His world was the kitchen/dining room. That is where my mom kept him when he lived with her. One room is where he slept and played. She didn’t take him outside, or on walks, or in the car (not the last few years anyway).

And Fred, well, Fred likes to go. He likes to walk, but he LOVES to ride. He is all about paws out the window, head stretched out, and hair whipping in the wind.

So my dear number four – also called buddy, pumpkin pie, stinky boy, fuzzy wuzzy, mister, pumkin lunkin, furry monster, and cute lil’ fella. Here you are in all your doggy glory for all the blog world to see.

This is your ride.

Start the engine,
give it some care.
As long as it goes,
not a second to spare.

Wind in the willows,
wind in my hair.
A sniff of the world,
and see if I dare.

Heart thumping wild,
mind on the brink.
I am the beast,
who cares what they think.

Raring to go,
raring to live.
Locked up no more,
I got front dibs.

A pocket of sunshine,
a wing, and a prayer.
Riding so sweet,
like I’m already there.

I am Freddy the Mighty!
Can you hear my roar?
Fearless and flying outside your front door.

**This post inspired by Freddy’s love of car rides and his photo being picked as a feature for Ellenburg Photography’s Project 52.

You go Freddy, you go.

That’s my boy!
